UVERworld

Formed in Kusatsu, Shiga, Japan in 2000, UVERworld is a rock band influenced by 1960s groups like the Beatles and the Beach Boys and alternative rockers like Weezer, Green Day, and My Chemical Romance. One of the most consistently successful modern rock band in Japan, their musical style blends elements of rock, industrial, hip-hop, jazz fusion. And J-Pop. UVERworld consists of band members Takuya∞ (vocals/rapper), Katsuya (guitar), Akira (guitar/programming), Nobuto (bass), Shintarō (drums), and Seika (saxophone/sampler). Initially a seven-member band called Sound Goku Road, the band released the demo Prime ’03. However, co-lead vocalist Ryohei and saxophonist Seika left the group (Seika would return in 2014) and the remaining members renamed the band UVERworld. Their debut album, Timeless, was released on the Gr8! Records label in 2006 and climbed to Number 5 on the Japanese album chart. During the first 20 years of their career, the group released nine more albums, all of which reached Number 2, Number 3, or Number 4 until the release of Unser in 2019, which went all the way to the top of the charts. Some of UVERworld’s hit singles include “Kimi no Suki na Uta” (2006), “Ukiyo Crossing” (2007), “Hakanaku mo Towa no Kanashi” (Number 1 in 2008), “Mondo Piece” (2011), “I Love the World” (2015), “Decided” (2018), and “Touch Off” (2019). In 2021, the band continued their hit streak with the singles “Namely” and “Raichoue”.
