Vinni

Øyvind Sauvik (February 3, 1976), better known as Vinni, is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and rapper. Born in Arendal in southeastern Norway, he moved to Tanzania with his parents at the age of 3 and spent most of his childhood there. After returning to Norway, he formed the rap duo Paperboys with J.J. Hollerud, who was later replaced by DJ Ole Alexander "Pope Dawg" Halstensgård. Between 2002 and 2009, Paperboys released five full-lengths that enjoyed great popularity in Norway and helped set the stage for Vinni’s solo career. In 2010, he unveiled a new project called Vinni and the Vagabonds, whose studio debut Happily Lost reached Number 33 on the VG-Lista. However, his big breakthrough arrived in 2012 when his singles “Sommerfuggel i Vinterland” and “Godmorgen Norge,” a couple of covers recorded during the reality music TV show In Hver Gang Vi Møtes, soared to the top of the Norwegian charts and stayed there for a couple of weeks each. As a consequence of this, his studio debut Oppvåkningen achieved pole position in Norway later that year. Subsequently, Vinni reunited Paperboys and released the Be Like Water EP (2016), and returned to the charts as a solo artist with the single “Glorie” (2022), which peaked at Number 16 on the domestic singles chart.
