Founded in Japan in 2009, wacci is a J-POP band formed by Yohei Hashiguchi (vocals), Hajime Inaba (keyboards) and Yuki Ono (bass). Originally known as the Hashiguchi Band, they were joined by Keiji Muranaka (guitar) and Yusuke Yokoyama (drums), relaunching as wacci and releasing their debut mini-album Arigatou on April 16, 2010. Performing widely throughout 2011, the band released their second mini-album Nakiwaraifu, on November 30, 2011 with the lead single “Kiminomonodatta” attracting considerable success online. The band continued to release singles, many of which were used for opening and closing themes for Japanese television series and on August 17, 2016, released their first studio album Daily Dramatic, which debuted at number 2 on the Oricon Daily Ranking charts, followed by Kanjo Kyakkei on August 16, 2017, peaking at number 5. Touring extensively throughout Japan, the band’s third album Gunjo Refrain was released on November 7, 2019. Their fourth album Empathy was released on the band’s 10th anniversary, with the single “Friends” used for the opening theme of popular TV anime Uchitama?! In 2022, their single “Koi daro” peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart after featuring in popular Japanese television drama Yangotonaki Ichizoku
