Andreas Bourani

German pop singer Andreas Bourani is of Egyptian origin but was adopted as a small child by German parents and raised in the Swabian town of Augsberg. During hs childhood Bourani's adopted parents supported his ambitions to have a career in music and sent him to the Downtown Music Institute. After moving to Berlin he picked up a recording contract with Universal Music and began his professional career as the opening act for German pop star Philipp Poisel and the Berlin hip-hop group Culcha Candela. Bourani's debut album 'Staub & Fantasie' came out in 2011 and reached number 23 in the German Album Charts. The lead single from the album 'Nur in Meinem Kopf' was a hit in northern Europe reaching the top 20 in Austria, Germany and Switzerland and was certified gold. Shortly after its success, a second single from the album titled 'Eisberg' was chosen as Bavaria's entry in the Bundesvison Song Contest and was voted in at number 10. Bourani's second album 'Hey' was released in 2014 and went to number three in the German Charts. With two successful albums to his credit Bourani was invited to be a judge on the reality show 'The Voice of Germany' and this has helped maintain his high profile with German pop fans.
