Avi Avital

Israeli mandolinist and composer Avi Avital rose to fame with his unique take on music from the Baroque genre as well as modern folk. He is known for taking music written for other instruments and adapting them for the mandolin. Avital began playing music at a very young age, performing in a local orchestra when he was just eight years old. His studies took him to Italy where he focused his time looking at music written for the mandolin. Avital has travelled the world and performed with many orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonie, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and Geneva Camerata. In 2012 he released his debut album 'Bach', containing a collection of concertos and sonatas transcribed by Avital from harpsichord and violin to mandolin and orchestra. His second album 'Between Worlds' came two years later followed by 'Vivaldi' in 2015 and 'Avital Meets Avital', a duet album with his double bassist brother Omer, in 2017.
