Bayaan

Bayaan is a Pakistani alternative rock band from the city of Lahore, where the group was founded in 2015. The band built an audience during the mid-2010s by appearing on the national TV series Nescafé Basement, whose episodes highlighted under-the-radar bands and from across Pakistan. After establishing themselves as hometown heroes with early singles like "Nahin Milta" (which appeared in the Pakistani movie Yalghaar in 2017), bandmates Asfar Hussain, Haider Abbas, Shahrukh Aslam, Muqeet Shahzad, and Mansoor Lashari set their sights on a genuine national breakthrough by competing in the third season of Pepsi Battle of the Bands. Bayaan finished the television show in first place and released a four-song EP, 4 Saal, in 2019, one year after the Battle of the Bands finale. Suno, Bayaan's full-length debut album, followed in 2020 and maintained the band's momentum. As the group's frontman, chief songwriter, and most publicly visible member, Hussain also appeared on several songs without his bandmates, including the solo single "Mehram" and the cricket anthem "Khel Ja Dil Se." Meanwhile, "Nahin Milta" remained a popular single in Pakistan and nearby countries for years after its original release, even returning to Indian's Top 200 Shazam chart in 2023.
