Bernie Paul

Bernie Paul is the stage name of German singer and producer Bernhard Paul Vonficht, born on February 12, 1950, in Schweinfurt. His music career began as the saxophonist for the band Seven Up in the 60s and then continued in the 70s in the Family Child group. After getting a record deal with Ariola Records, Bernie Paul released his first hit “Lucky,” which reached Number 6 on the German charts in 1978. The single was included in his studio debut All or Nothing, released in 1979. His biggest hit arrived in 1981 with “Oh No No,” an infectious disco-pop track that peaked at Number 2 in Germany. The song was also a huge hit in Europe, where it was covered by French composer Sacha Distel and Finnish singer Kirka. In subsequent years, Bernie Paul enjoyed a great deal of success as a songwriter, penning songs for Peter Kent and Relax. He also wrote original music for advertising and television series. His first German album, Einfach Relaxed, saw the light in 2002.
