Bird York

Kathleen York – born in Los Angeles, California on May 11, 1975 – is an actress and screenwriter who also releases music under the name Bird York. As a singer-songwriter, she is best-known for her Academy Award-nominated song “In The Deep,” which was featured in the 2004 motion picture Crash. She began her acting career as a teenager, taking on small roles in films and television series including Dallas (1984), A Season in Purgatory (1996), and À la Maison-Blanche (1999-2006). While building her acting career, she also began releasing music under the Bird York name, issuing her self-titled debut album in 1999. In 2003, she released her second album, Velvet Hour, which included the song “In the Deep.” The single reached Number 64 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and earned Bird Dog and Academy Ward nomination when it was featured in the 2004 movie Crash. She returned to acting and appeared in many hit TV series including Desperate Housewives (2006), NCIS: Special Investigations (2007), House (2007), CSI (2009), CSI: Manhattan (2012), Bones (2013), True Blood (2014) and Murder (2020). Bird York returned with her third album, Wicked Little High, in 2006, which was followed by the Have No Fear EP (2008). Outside of her work as an actress and singer, Kathleen ‘Bird’ York is also a screenwriter.
