Bohemia Suburbana

Bohemia Suburbana is an alternative rock band formed in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Founded by vocalist Giovanni Pinzón, guitarist Juancarlos Barrios, bassist Juan Luis Lopera, and drummer José Pedro Mollinedo, the group released their debut album, Sombras en el Jardin, in 1993. The following year, Mollinedo quit Bohemia Suburbana and was replaced by Alex Lobos. At the same time, the band also brought in guitarist and keyboardist Álvaro Rodriguez as an official fifth member. They achieved their commercial breakthrough with the release of their second album, Mil Palabras Con Sus Dientes (1997) and the single “Peces e Iguanas.” The band did an extensive tour of Central America as well as performing in several US cities. However, Alex Lobos left the band and Bohemia Suburbana went on temporary hiatus until 1999, when they performed a highly successful reunion concert in Guatemala City. With a rejuvenated line-up, the band released the album Sub (2001), which included the single “El Grito.” Their 10th anniversary concerts were recorded and released in on the 2003 album Aqui Diez Años… En Vivo!, which also included several new songs. After another hiatus, the band returned with their fourth album, Bohemia Suburbana, in 2010. It was followed in 2015 by the album Imaginaria Sonoro, which was overseen by British producer Phil Vinall. The success of the album led to Vinall returning as producer for their 2020 album Santiago 14º 91º.
