Swedish rapper Busu laces his beats with not just the same heart-heavy elements as some of his emo rap peers, but takes things a little further to incorporate aspects of pop-punk melodicism and instrumentation. He followed several singles with the 2018 mixtape Deadbeat Boyfriend Diaries, which featured a noteworthy cover of Chief Keef's "Hate Bein' Sober."
Native Swedish artist Busu began making music in the late 2000s, eventually posting tracks online beginning around 2014. Working out of his home base in Stockholm, he developed a sound that leaned on programmed drums and rapping but also often incorporated organic rock instruments and punky singing. He issued several singles before the release of his 2017 mixtape Family, a collaboration with DJ HAYDN and Teo Sweden. The next year, he returned with the seven-song project Deadbeat Boyfriend Diaries. In addition to the Chief Keef cover, the mixtape included a verse from Yung Bans on the song "OJ." ~ Fred Thomas
