Cinquecento

Formed in Vienna, Austria in October 2004, Cinquecento is a vocal ensemble who specialize in performing vocal music from the Renaissance era. Although there have been changes in the group’s line-up over the years, he international ensemble has included Swiss countertenor Terry Wey, English baritone Tim Scott, Belgian Tenor Tore Tom Denys, Austrian countertenor Jakob Huppmann, German tenor Thomas Künne, and Austrian bass Ulfried Staber. A year after their formation, they became the Ensemble in Residence at the church of St. Rochus and Sebastian in Vienna. Quickly establishing itself as one of Europe’s finest vocal ensembles, Cinquecento became an international sensation and performed in many countries including France, Italy, Germany, Holland, Poland, Switzerland, Belgium, the UK, Portugal, the US, and many others. Cinquecento made their debut at the prestigious Salzburg Festival in the summer of 2021. The ensemble began their recording career in 2007 with the release of Music for the Court of Maximilian II (2007), which was followed by albums including Regnart: Missa Super Oeniades Nymphae (2007), Monte: Missa Ultimi Miei Sospiri (2008), Vaet: Missa Ego Flos Campi (2009), Richafort Requiem (2012), Lasso: Missa Super Dixit Joseph & Motets (2015), Cleve: Missa Rex Babylonis & Other Works (2020), Regnart: Missa Christ Ist Erstanden & Other Works (2021), and Daser: Missa Pater noster & Other Works (2023).
