Colin Vallon

Jazz pianist Colin Vallon was born in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1980. At the age of 14 he began studying piano under local jazz musician Mark Ueter. Four years later Vallon enrolled at the Swiss Jazz School in Berne where he was tutored by Manuel Bärtsch, Bert Joris, Silvano Bazan and William Evans, all highly respected jazz musicians. By the time he was 19 Vallon had founded his own group, The Colin Vallon Trio and although he has been involved with numerous other projects during his professional life the trio have remained a constant throughout his career and have a busy recording and touring schedule. Vallon's debut album 'Les Hombres' was released by the trio in 2004 and to promote its release the band appeared at the prestigious Swiss Diagonales Festival along with guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel from New York. The follow up album 'Ailleurs' was released in 2007 by which time the band had signed to the avant-garde label HatHut Records. During his career Vallon has appeared at jazz festivals all over the globe including venues in Tunisia, South Africa, Slovenia, Dubai and throughout Europe. In addition to his career as a musician Vallon teaches music at the Bern University of Arts.
