Firelight

Maltese band Firelight were centred around the songwriting talents of Richard Edward Micallef. His brothers Daniel and Wayne and sister Michelle were also in the band. Their father Joe George was a famous singer in Malta and the family grew up surrounded by music. Richard formed a band called the Mics with Michelle and they twice took part in Malta's competition to find a song for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 and 2005. Richard Edwards, as he was known on stage, had appeared in the 2005 edition of 'The X Factor' in the UK and toured with the band Cast Away in the UK. He returned to Malta and formed Firelight in 2013. Firelight represented Malta in the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Coming Home'. It only scored 23 points, but did hit the charts in the UK, Austria, Germany and Ireland. The band's debut album was 'Backdrop of Life' in 2014. Edwards released a solo single 'Burning' in 2016.
