Gene Russell

Gene Russell was a jazz, pop and soul keyboard player and later on, a producer. He is best known for his albums released on the label Black Jazz Records that he co-founded. These were the live album 'Takin' Care of Business' (1967); 'Up and Away' (1968); 'New Direction' (1971) and 'Talk To My Lady' (1972), which included covers of Gamble and Huff's 'Me and Mrs Jones' and Stevie Wonder's 'You Are The Sunshine of My Life'. His album 'Listen Here' was released in 1976. His final album was 'Autumn Leaves' in 1981 before he died in the same year at the age of 48.
