Hannah Jones

Hannah Jones (born on March 7, 1957) is a London-based British vocalist, mostly known for scoring two Top 5 US hits in the late 90s. Music was always a part of Jones’ life — her mother worked at the BBC’s Maida Vale studios and they used to live right above a jazz club — but it wasn’t until she met her husband that she started to take her career seriously. The couple moved to London for that purpose, where she began performing in the city’s underground club circuit. Jones quickly became a club scene staple, and even toured the UK during those first years. Her success caught the attention of Boy George (of Culture Club fame), with whom she collaborated on the songs “Strong Boy” and “40 Days of Rain” in 1992. Following a couple of high-profile collaborations with artists like Elton John (“The Man Who Will Never Die”) and Heaven 17 (“Gimme Shelter”), Jones rebooted her career releasing the single “No One Can Love You More Than Me” in 1997. The track was a huge hit in the US, topping Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart that same year. She followed the success with “You Only Have to Say You Love Me” in 1998, which also topped the dance music charts and reached Number 65 on Billboard’s Hot 100. After a string of singles that failed to chart during the 2000s, Jones joined forces with the Northern Underground Jazz Orchestra project in 2013 for a series of live performances at several jazz clubs throughout London.
