Honor Blackman

An English actress whose 68-year career spanned the intersecting worlds of film, theater, television, and music, Honor Blackman was born on August 22, 1925, in Plaistow, England. Best known for portraying iconic characters like Cathy Gale in The Avengers and Pussy Galore in the James Bond film Goldfinger, she also maintained a singing career, which began with the release of her solo album, Everything I've Got, in 1964. "Kinky Boots," a novelty song recorded with her Avengers co-star Patrick Macnee, was released that same year and became an unexpected Top 5 hit on the British charts in 1990, thanks to radio DJ Simon Mayo's frequent use of the song in his BBC Radio 1 morning show. She also starred in musicals like the West End production of Cabaret and appeared on the official London cast recording of Nunsense, where she sang the song "Just a Coupl'a Sisters." Blackman remained active in television and film well into her 80s, and passed away at the age of 94 on April 5, 2020.
