Jay Wheeler

José Martínez is a Puerto Rican reggaeton artist best known by his stage name Jay Wheeler. He was born in the town of Salinas in 1994 and raised in humble circumstances by his mother and grandmother and grew up never knowing his father. During his school years Martinez was bullied by his peer group and began to look to music as a way of escape. He learnt to play the piano and during his teen years began to upload freestyles onto social media and slowly began to build a fan base for his material. In 2017 Martinez came to the attention of Dynamic Records, who signed him and released a number of digital format singles under his stage name. His breakthrough came a year later in 2018 when the single 'Por tu Culpa' went viral and accrued almost 200,000 downloads. Towards the end of 2019 Martinez released his much-anticipated debut album titled 'Platonic'.
