Justin Taylor

The son of French and American parents, classical harpsichordist Justin Taylor was born on June 16, 1992, in Angers, France. At the age of 11, he began playing the harpsichord and studied the instrument at the Conservatoire d'Angers. In 2011, he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and studied the harpsichord under Olivier Baumont and Blandine Rannou, and also studied the piano under Roger Muraro. Justin Taylor received his master's degree with honors in 2015, and went on to win many awards, including first prize and audience prize at the Musica Antiqua International Competition in Bruges, Belgium. He then won the Alpha Prize Competition, which was sponsored by the Alpha Records label. This contest win led to signing with the label and releasing his 2016 debut album, La Famille Forqueray: Portrait(s). Already a member of the OFJB (Orchestre Français des Jeunes Baroque), Justin Taylor founded the Le Consort ensemble and recorded the albums Opus 1 (2019), Specchio Veneziano (2021), as well as Eva Zaïcik's recital Venez Chère Ombre (2022). Following his album La Famille Rameau (2021), he recorded Les Frères Francœur (2022) with one of Le Consort's members, violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte. Justin Taylor then examined the links between J. S. Bach and the Italian composers Vivaldi, A. Scarlatti, and Marcello in Bach & l'Italie (2023), which won a Diapason d'or.
