Leila Schayegh

Born in Winterthur, Switzerland in 1975, Leila Schayegh is one of the best-known baroque violinists in classical music. Her vivacious and unique performances have made her a popular guest artist on stages all around the world. She performs solo and with smaller chamber orchestras and larger orchestras. Schayegh is the daughter of an Iranian father and a Swiss mother. She studied modern violin at the Basel College of Music, where she graduated with a soloist diploma in 1999. She joined the Zurich Opera Orchestra in 2000 . Two years later, she focused on the baroque violin. Schayegh began her recording career in 2008 and has appeared on many releases over the years. One of her most popular releases is 2019’s Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, performed with the Musica Fiorita ensemble. Alongside her performing and recording career, she has been the Professor of Baroque Violin at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis since 2010.
