Mitch James

Mitch James (Born 26 June 1995 in Auckland) is a New Zealand-based singer and songwriter who released his self-titled, debut album in 2018. The album went on to be certified platinum two years later as well as featuring four platinum and two gold singles, including "No Fixed Abode", "All the Ways to Say Goodbye", and "Bright Blue Skies". The first single “21” hit Number 2 on the NZ Singles chart and was certified Gold by RMNZ in 2018 before being nominated for Single Of The Year at the New Zealand Music Awards. Born 26th June 1995 and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, James learned guitar by watching YouTube videos before moving to London to pursue a career in music. He returned to New Zealand in 2016 where he signed with Sony Music New Zealand after musician Maala spotted his recordings online. James’ debut EP, released in 2017, amassed 20 million streams in the space of a year and saw him embark on The Humble Roadie Tour of his native New Zealand. He also opened for Ed Sheeran in 2018 as well as Six60 on their Summer 2020 World Tour. In 2018 he won the MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Zealand Act and was nominated for Best Pop Act at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards in 2017.
