Nikki Lane

The US country singer Nikki Lane has been referred to as 'The First Lady of Outlaw Country' which is an appropriate description for Lane's uncompromising rock-influenced take on country music. After starting out as a fashion designer Lane turned to country music following the break-up of a relationship. Her debut album 'Walk of Shame' was released in 2011 to mixed critical reviews, one of which mentioned Lane's apparent lack of recording experience which comes across in some of the songs. It's a critique the artist successfully dealt with on her next album which received very positive reviews, particularly with regard to the quality of the production. Her career faltered slightly in 2016 due to unfortunate circumstance surrounding her band after two of the band members were diagnosed with cancer. Alex Munos the guitarist made a full recovery and returned to band duties for the release of 'Highway Queen' but sadly drummer Ben Eyestone passed away in 2017. As well as pursuing her career as a country performer Lane has still maintained her interest in the fashion industry and runs a clothing shop in Nashville called 'High Class Hillbilly'.
