Olivia Lobato

The Swedish pop singer Olivia Lobato was born on February 19, 2004, in Tyresö, Sweden. She spent nearly a decade of her childhood in Brazil, and her eventual return to Sweden gave her a unique perspective on the country's culture. Although she would eventually funnel that perspective into her own music, she initially built an audience by reinterpreting other artists' songs, covering artists like Veronica Maggio, Hov1, and Miriam Bryant in a series of popular TikTok videos while still a teenager. In 2020, her version of the Swedish staple "Visa vid vindens ängar" was used in a national commercial for Telia Company, expanding her audience beyond the world of social media. "Syrener," Olivia Lobato's first original song, was released in 2021 and quickly went viral, earning upwards of one million digital streams within its first two months of availability. The following year, "Syrener" became a radio hit across much of Scandinavia, reaching Number 3 on the Swedish Singles Chart and Number 6 on the Norwegian Top 40. Meanwhile, Lobato released a string of one-off singles in the wake of her newfound success, including "Foreverland," "Jack & Rose," "Vågen," "En station ifrån," "Ännu mer," and a live recording of "Haglar."
