Oxymorrons

Often told that they were too rap for rock and too rock for rap, Queens, New York-based quartet Oxymorrons took this criticism as a challenge and have built up a devoted audience in the process. Founded by brothers Demi (Deee) Bellevue and Kami (KI) Bellevue, the duo recruited drummer Matty Mays and guitarist / bassist / vocalist Jafe Paulino and began to refine their sound that mixed their hip hop influences with a rock sound inspired by band like Nirvana and Soundgarden. The group released their debut EP, Complex But Basic, in 2016. After building a strong East Coast following, they released the singles “See Stars” (2018) and “Justice” (2020) before issuing the Mohawks and Durags EP in 2021. With interest at an all-time high, Oxymorrons played many music festivals and attracted the attention of rock, rap, and punk fans alike. In 2023, they released the single “Look Alive (Netic),” which reached number 33 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart. The single was the first track lifted from their debut full-length album Melanin Punk, released in October 2023.
