Peppertones

Peppertones are a music duo from South Korea that blends K-Pop with rock and electronic music. Formed in 2003 by college students Shin “Sayo” Jae-pyung and Lee “Noshel” Jang-won, they rapidly made their debut in 2004 with the EP A Preview. Prior to that, the band had already become quite popular in the independent music scene by performing in several venues and clubs in the Hongdae area. Their proper studio debut Colorful Express arrived in 2005 and spawned the indie hit “Superfantastic,” which earned them an award for Best Dance & Electronic Song at the 4th Korean Music Awards two years later. After switching labels, Peppertones released their sophomore effort New Standard, which saw the light in 2008 via Antenna Records. In the following years, they broke into the Korean Top 10 with the album Beginner’s Luck (2012) and issued the 2013 digital single “Thank You,” a melancholic pop ballad that reached Number 91 in South Korea. Released in 2014, a fifth album titled High-Five went to Number 7 while 2018’s long way peaked at Number 16.
