Pierre Delanoë

Born Pierre Charles Marcel Napoléon Leroyer in the 10th arrondissement of Paris in 1918, Pierre Delanoë took his artist's name from his grandmother's surname. Beginning his immense career with Gilbert Bécaud, his 5,000 songs include lyrics that have left a deep mark on the collective memory of the French-speaking world: "Il est mort le soleil", "Adieu Angelina", "La Ballade des gens heureux","Le Bal des Laze", "Le France", "L'Été indien". Pierre Delanoë, also a radio personality, died on December 27, 2006.
