Pocah

Viviane de Queiroz Pereira, professionally known as Pocah and formerly MC Pocahontas, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter hailing from Queimados, Rio de Janeiro. Born on October 17, 1994, honed her skills as a manicurist at her mother's salon, later tagging along with her elder brother's rock band tours. By high school, she had developed an interest in the rhythmic beats of funk carioca. 2012 marked her official debut with "Mulher do Poder," amassing over 11 million views on her video-streaming channel and securing her place in the burgeoning funk ostentação movement. Her striking resemblance to Disney's Pocahontas earned her the stage name MC Pocahontas. Throughout the 2010s, she participated in the 2013 reality show Nem Aí and continued to grow her following with hits like "Ó Quem Voltou" (2018) with Naiara Azevedo and Dani Russo, and "Quer Mais?" (2018) alongside MC Mirella—both tracks achieving significant certifications in Brazil. During this time, she also jumped into the international spotlight when American rapper Future sampled one of her tracks on his 2017 single "Fresh Air." After signing with Warner Music in 2019, she changed her stage name to Pocah and made her major-label debut with the female empowerment anthem "Não Sou Obrigada," which accumulated over 35 million plays across streaming platforms. This rise in popularity led to an appearance in the reality show franchise Big Brother in 2021, followed by the release of her debut EP A Braba É Ela in 2023. "Assanhadinha," one of the EP's tracks featuring MC Durrony, entered the Brazilian streaming charts at number 79.
