Richy Mitch & the Coal Miners

Richy Mitch & the Coal Miners are a folk-rock band from Colorado Springs, Colorado, where Mitch Cutts, Nic Haughn, and Jakob Ervin formed the band as high-school students in 2017. RMCM, the trio's debut album, was recorded at Haugh's house during the teenagers' senior year and released on graduation day in May 2017. Its first track, "Evergreen," would soon become a viral hit, earning more than 250 million streams on Spotify, spawning a TikTok trend, and charting in multiple international formats — including Ireland's Top 100 Deezer chart (where it peaked at Number 1), the UK's Top 50 Spotify chart (where it reached number 45), and Norway's Top 200 Shazam chart (where it climbed to number 19) — in 2023. Meanwhile, the bandmates attended different colleges for multiple years, using their weekends and school breaks as opportunities to record the sophomore album Solstice. The record was released in 2018, followed by Subliming one year later. Richy Mitch & the Coal Miners eventually reconvened in Bozeman, where they built a home studio and created singles like 2022's "Cameron Pass," 2023's "Lake Missoula" (featuring Mt. Joy), and 2023's "Signal Sender." They also watched "Evergreen" become a popular song on TikTok, which sparked renewed interest in the track and led to performances at festivals like Lollapalooza, Out of the Blue, and Extra Innings Festival.
