Sanni

Sanni is the stage name of Sanni Mari Elina Kurkisuo, a Finnish singer-songwriter performing electronic pop. Creative from an early age, Sanni started playing violin at six and won the Napero-Finlandi fairy-tale writing competition in 2001. Born in Lohja, she moved to Helsinki at the age of 16 to study at Sibelius High School. In 2012, she starred in the film 'Miss Farkku-Suomi'. That same year she contributed vocals to the Finnish rapper Aste's song 'Pumppaa'. Signing with Warner Music Finland, she released her debut single 'Prinsessoja Ja Astronautteja' in 2013, reaching number three in the Finnish Singles Chart. Her debut album 'Sotke Mut' was released later that year, reaching number nine on the Finnish Album Charts. Follow-up albums 'Lelu' (2015) and 'Sanni' (2016) both reached number one. Single '2080-luvulla' (2015) set a record by staying at the top of the Finnish Airplay Charts for eleven consecutive weeks. Around this time, Sanni also appeared on 'Vain Elämää', a Finnish television show where a group of musicians perform covers of each other's songs. She released several singles as part of the show including 'Kelpaat Kelle Vaan' featuring the Finnish symphonic metal band Apocalyptica. Sanni's fourth album 'Trippi' was released in 2019.
