Seun Kuti

Seun Kuti – born in Lagos, Nigeria on January 11, 1983 – is a saxophonist, vocalist, and band leader. He is the youngest son of legendary Afrobeat artist Fela Kuti and the brother of Femi Kuti. Born into a musical family, he became interested in music at the age of five and was playing in his father’s band, Egypt 80, by the age of nine. When his father died, he took over the role as leader in Egypt 80 and has continued to lead the band for a quarter of a century. The first album by Seun Kuti + Egypt 80 was 2008’s Many Things. That debut was followed by From Africa with Fury: Rise (2011), A Long Way to the Beginning (2014), the Grammy Award-nominated Black Times (2019), and Night Dreamer: Direct to Disc Sessions (2019). During his career, Seun Kuti has also collaborated with several other artists including Calle 13 and rapper Jidenna.
