soulDecision

Souldecision were a Canadian R&B band from Vancouver who formed in 1993 and had a platinum-selling hit with their debut album 'No One Does It Better' in 2000. The group comprised of Ken Lewko on keyboards, vocalist David Bowman and multi-instrumentalist Trevor Guthrie. The three musicians were all students at Vancouver's Capilano College where they were studying music together. After having some success with a brace of self-funded singles the band signed a deal with Universal Music and began recording in earnest. After the success of the million-selling 'No One Does It Better', the band and their new record company Sextant (the band left Universal after the first album) had high hopes for the follow-up album and invested over five million dollars in producing and marketing the new record. Despite a tour and three single releases to promote the album it only sold 10,000 and Sextant were forced to file for bankruptcy. The failure of the album and the financial collapse of their record company signalled the end for the group and they disbanded in 2005. Trevor Guthrie went on to have a solo career and received a Grammy Award nomination for his 2014 song 'This Is What It Feels Like'.
