Takaya Kawasaki

Takaya Kawasaki, a Japanese singer-songwriter and actor, was born on May 16, 1995, in Nasushiobara City, Tochigi Prefecture. Music played a significant role in his life from a young age, with his father running a live bar and introducing him to genres such as punk rock and hardcore punk. In April 2014, Kawasaki enrolled in the Muse Mode Conservatory, majoring in vocals and four years later, his debut album I Believe in You (2018) was released under the indie label S-Rise Music/Flying Voice Inc, however it was August 2020, when his song "Magic Carpet" gained significant popularity online, making Kawasaki an overnight sensation, after over 30,000 videos used the track, gaining a total of more than 300 million views by May 2021. By July, the song had exceeded 42 million views and charted in the Top 50 for 14 weeks. In December that year, Kawasaki unveiled his first major studio album titled Calendar through Warner Music Japan, followed by his first EP of covers titled Shiro and singles “Answer” and “FLY HIGH” which charted at number 27 and 37 respectively. In June 2023, Kawasaki made his acting debut in the film Witch's Perfume, also composing the theme song, titled “Orange”, which coincided with release of his third album Nukumori, on June 14.
