Tempalay

Lo-fi indie / psych rock band Tempalay was formed in Tokyo, Japan in 2014. Founded by Ryōto Ohara (vocals, guitar), Natsuki Fujimoto (drums), and Yūya Takeuchi (bass), the group released their debut independently released EP, Summer Time, in 2014. In 2015, the group added Aaamyyy (keyboards, vocals) to the group’s live lineup and signed with P-Vine, releasing the Instant Hawaii EP that same year. In 2016, Tempalay released the single “Made in Japan,” which was followed by the group’s debut album, also titled Made in Japan. The 2016 album proved to be a moderate success and introduced the band to a wider audience. In February 2017, they released the five-song EP Gokyoko, which was also a moderate success. Their second album, From Japan 2 (2017), proved to be more successful and reached Number 90 on the Japanese Albums chart. Bassist Yūya Takeuchi left the group in 2018 and they made touring and session keyboardist Aaamyyy a full-time member. Their 2018 EP, What a Wonderful World, included the singles “What to Do” and “Sonic Wave.” Tempalay returned in 2019 with the album With Love from the 21st Century, which landed at Number 30 on the albums chart. In 2021, they issued Ghost Album, which was their most successful album to date, reaching Number 17 on the albums chart. However, their 2022 album From Japan 3, was even more successful and climbed to Number 14.
