Tim Rogers

Tim Rogers is an Australian musician, actor, and writer, best known as the front man of the iconic Australian rock band You Am I. Born in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, on September 20, 1969, Rogers began his music career in Perth, where he formed his first band, The Proton Energy Pills, in the late 1980s, before starting You Am I with two high school friends in the early nineties. Debuting with Sound as Ever in 1993, the record was quickly followed by several critically acclaimed albums, including Hi Fi Way (1995) and Hourly, Daily (1996), which solidified their status as one of the country's leading rock bands. Rogers soon found success as a solo artist, with his first solo release What Rhymes with Cars and Girls (1999) winning him an ARIA Award for Best Male Artist. His solo career continued to flourish with Spit Polish (2004), Dirty Ron/Ghost Songs (2005), The Luxury of Hysteria (2007), Rogers Sings Rogerstein (2012) and The Rules of Attraction (2015), winning the Double J Artist of the Year at the J Awards of 2015. In 2017, he released An Actor Repairs (2017) with the single "Youth" receiving a nomination for song of the year at the 2018 APRA Awards. In addition to his music career, Rogers has also acted in several Australian television shows and films, including Two Hands and The Dish and has also worked as a radio presenter and a columnist for several major publications. Rogers remains a beloved figure in the Australian music scene, with 2023 album Tines of Stars Unfurled peaking at number 4, marking the highest album chart position of his solo career.
