Elevation Worship

Elevation Worship began in 2007 in Charlotte, North Carolina as part of the Elevation Church. With a stated goal of creating music that allows everyone to feel a personal connection to Jesus, the musical project initially started with Chris Brown and Wade Joye. They released four independent albums between 2007 and 2010, with 2010’s Kingdom Come being the first to crack the Christian Album chart, peaking at Number 17. They signed to Essential Records and immediately began issuing a string of live albums including 2011’s For the Honor, 2012’s Nothing Is Wasted, and 2014’s Wake Up the Wonder. Those last two topped the Christian Album chart and made serious inroads into the regular album chart, and that would provide the breakthroughs of 2015’s Here as in Heaven and 2016’s There Is a Cloud, both of which topped the Christian album chart and went Top 20 the main album chart. The former produced their first top 5 Christian single, “O Come to the Altar,” while the latter gave them their second, “Do It Again.” Their albums continued to be crossover successes, with 2018’s Hallelujah Here Below and 2020’s Graves into Gardens going Top 5 Christian and Top 40 on the Billboard 200. The title track from Graves into Gardens gave Elevation Worship their most successful single to that point, topping both the Christian Singles and the Christian Airplay charts. Old Church Basement, their 2021 collaboration with Maverick City Music, became their sixth LP to top the Christian Album chart and included the Top 10 Christian singles “Jireh,” “Talking to Jesus,” and “Wait on You.” In 2023, Elevation Worship earned a Grammy nomination in the category of Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for their 2022 tenth live album, LION. That year, they soared to the top of the US Christian charts once again with their tenth live LP, Can You Imagine?
