Hey! Say! JUMP

Between their various sub-units and a Manga series dedicated to them, from the outside Hey! Say! JUMP might look as much like a superhero team as a pop group but the boy band has been scoring hit after hit in Japan for over a decade. The first iteration of the group was revealed in 2007 when it was announced that Yuya Takaki, Daiki Arioka, Ryosuke Yamada, Yuto Nakajima and Yuri Chinen would be releasing the single 'Hey! Say!' as part of the temporary group Hey! Say! 7. The song was used as the opening and closing theme for the anime 'Lovely Complex' and hit number one in the Oricon singles chart, making the band the youngest male group ever to do so. Later that year they were joined by Kota Yabu, Kei Inoo, Hikaru Yaotome, Keito Okamoto and Ryutaro Morimoto and Hey! Say! JUMP was born. The members were organised into two sub-groups, with the older members making up Hey! Say! BEST and the younger members forming Hey! Say! 7. In 2011, however, the group ran into controversy when Ryutaro Morimoto was caught smoking underage on camera. He was put on indefinite suspension before announcing his permanent departure from the group. The groups have toured extensively, both as a full group and in their sub-groups and have put out a string of releases, including the albums 'JUMP No. 1', 'Jump World' and 'Sense Or Love', all of which hit number one in the Japanese album charts.
