Marcus King

Singer and guitarist born in Greenville, South Carolina, on March 11, 1996, Marcus King has emerged as one of the blues sensations of the 2010s with the albums of the band bearing his name, the Marcus King Band. Successively, Soul Insight (2015), Marcus King Band (2016) and Carolina Confessions (2018), buoyed by the leader's warm voice and technique and his solid band with soul, rock and jazz accents, garnered critical and public acclaim. Himself the son of a blues guitarist, Marcus King began performing as a teenager before surrounding himself with his musicians to open for Gov't Mule, whose leader, Warren Haynes, used his notoriety to sign the Marcus King Band to the Fantasy label. After three albums with the band, Marcus King felt the need to express himself in his own right, and called on specialist Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys) to produce his first solo album, El Dorado, released in January 2020. Recorded in Nashville, this album benefits from the input of the crème de la crème of local studio musicians. The same producer officiates on the following Young Blood (2022), which, with contributions from Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, tops the Billboard blues chart. In 2024, his third solo album Mood Swings, produced by Rick Rubin, was tinged with strong soul accents.
