Nura

Nura Habib Omer (December 24, 1988) is an Eritrean-born German rapper and actress, mostly known for her political and social commitment to the LGBTQ community. She fled Kuwait with her parents at the age of 3 and settled first in Oberhausen and then in Wuppertal. After turning 18, she moved to Berlin due to internal conflicts within her family and became a dancer for the electroclash band The Toten Crackhuren im Kofferraum. In 2014, Nura teamed up with rapper Juju to form the provocative hip-hop duo SXTN, who released a studio album and an EP before calling it quits in 2018. From there on, Nura continued to perform as a solo artist and made her official debut with the album Habibi in 2019, which reached Number 14 in Germany and spawned four charting hits—”Babebabe” with SAM, “Chaya” with Trettmann, “SOS” with Remoe, and “Was ich meine.” The success of her studio debut earned Nura the chance to perform at some of the largest German-speaking festivals in Europe, including Summerjam and Openair Frauenfeld. Following a series of guest appearances on Remoe’s “Bist du dabei?” and Disastar’s “Trauma” during 2020, Nura came back in full force with her second full-length, Auf der Suche (2021). The album peaked at Number 22 on the German Albums Chart and “Fair,” one of its singles, went to Number 28.
