Takeshi Ueda

Takeshi Ueda is a Japanese rapper, musician, and producer known for his innovative approach to music and energetic live performances. Born on August 25, 1968, in Yokohama, Japan, Ueda began his musical career as a bassist for the alternative rock band, The Mad Capsule Markets in 1985. The group gained a cult following in Japan and earned a reputation for their high-energy live shows and eclectic sound which fused punk, metal, and electronic music, gaining international popularity with their 2006 track “Chaos Step” featured on the soundtrack of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. In 2009, Ueda began to explore his interest in hip-hop music, and he launched his solo career under the moniker, AA= (All Animals Are Equal). His debut album, #1 was released later that year to critical acclaim and featured a mix of rap, rock, and electronic music. Continuing to release albums under the AA= moniker, Ueda also collaborated with a range of other artists and producers, including Kenichi Asai, DJ Krush, and m-flo and produced music for a number of other artists, including hit Japanese metal band, Babymetal. Releasing music under his full name in 2022, Ueda contributed the opening song, "RUN!!" to animated series Sabikui Bisco followed by the album Teenage Dreams in 2023, which rose to number 37 on the Top 100 Albums Chart.
