Blanca

Blanca kicked off her career as lead singer of the Christian hip-hop ensemble Group 1 Crew during the late 2000s, then rebranded herself as a successful solo artist after leaving the group in 2013. She was born as "Blanca Elaine Reyes" in Puerto Rico on February 10, 1986. Her father struggled with substance abuse before finding solace in Christianity, and Blanca grew up in an enthusiastically religious household. She later moved to Orlando, Florida, where she joined Group 1 Crew in 2003. The group's self-titled debut album arrived in 2007 and was named "Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year" at the 2008 GMA Dove Awards. Group 1 Crew received the same award for its next two albums, Dreamers and Outta Space Love, then earned back-to-back Number 1 hits on the Christian charts with "He Said" and "His Kind of Love" in 2012. Both songs appeared on the album Fearless, which also featured the Number 1 hit "Dangerous." Fearless marked Blanca's final album with the group, however, with the singer refocusing her attention on a solo career. Blanca, her self-titled solo debut, was released in 2015, peaking at Number 7 on the Top Christian Albums chart and producing five Top 40 hits on the Christian Airplay chart. 2018's Shattered was similarly successful. The Heartbreak and the Healing, her third solo release, arrived in 2022 and was preceded by the hit single "The Healing," which reached Number 9 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart.
