Eru

South Korean singer, songwriter, and actor Jo Seong-hyeon – born July 5, 1983 in New York City, New York – is better-known by his stage name Eru. He is the son of South Korean trot singer Tae Jin-ah. At the age of 7, his family relocated to South Korea where he received his schooling at several international schools. He studied piano in 2003 at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. After serving his military service in South Korea, he entered the music business as a producer and songwriter. Realizing that he wanted to sing his own compositions, he changed the course of his career and began focusing on singing his own songs. He released his debut solo album, Begin to Breathe, in 2005. The album reached Number 21 on the Korean Albums chart. Eru released his second album, Level II, in 2006. The album featured the award-winning single “Black Glasses” (featuring Daylight), which became a substantial hit. The album’s second single, “White Snow”, was also a hit. Eru Returns, his third album, was released in September 2007 and shot to the top of the charts. The album featured the massive hit “Because We Are Two” plus “Wintering” and “Mannequin”. His fourth album, Got To Be, was released in 2010 and featured the hit single “White Tears”. In 2017, Eru appeared in the South Korean drama series You Are Too Much as well as providing the ending theme, “Sad Love”.
