Finn Askew

British bedroom pop singer-songwriter Finn Askew (May 21, 2001) started writing music during his teenage years, mostly influenced by American hip-hop acts like Juice WRLD and Lil Peep. As a child, the Wellington native got his musical education from his parent’s record collection, which included The Beach Boys, The Smiths, and Nirvana. A self-taught musician, Finn Askew picked up the guitar as a preteen and started uploading material to his social media channels. That and several appearances at music competitions and open mic nights around London helped him cultivate a substantial following, catching the attention of Polydor Records. “Roses” (2020), his first offering for the label, was written and recorded when he was just 16 using a cheap microphone and music production software. The track was included in his 2021 EP Peach, which seamlessly amalgamated lo-fi hip-hop, jazz, and a dash of indie rock.
