Kiha & The Faces

From 2008 until 2018, Kiha & The Faces reigned as one of South Korea's most popular indie bands. The group was formed in 2008 by Chang Kiha, a Seoul native who graduated from Seoul National University before turning his focus to music. Blending a wide range of influences — including indie-folk, indie-rock, and pop — into a signature style, Kiha & The Faces made their public debut with "Cheap Coffee," a critically-acclaimed single that was named "Song of the Year" and "Best Rock Song" by the Korean Music Awards in 2009. "Cheap Coffee" appeared on the band's debut album, Living the Carefree Life, whose 2009 release was followed by the sophomore album Kiha & The Faces in 2011. The self-titled Kiha & The Faces featured a pair of charting singles — "A Sort Of Relationship," which reached Number 16 in South Korea, and "I Watched TV," which stalled at Number 64 — and won the band another pair of awards for the Korean Music Awards in 2012, including "Album of the Year." The band cracked the Top 10 for the first time with 2013's "Super Weeds Man." 2014's Human Mind, Kiha & The Faces' third album, was also a Top 10 success, as was 2016's Who's Good At Their Own Love? Following the release of Mono in 2018, the group disbanded, with Chang Kiha continuing to make appearances on various South Korean variety shows during the years thereafter.
