Novel Core

Taro Satake aka Japanese rapper and singer-songwriter Novel Core was born on 18 January 2001 in Tokyo and first fell in love with hip-hop via YouTube aged 14. In March 2016, he took part in an MC battle under the name Core-Boy and subsequently kicked his rap career into gear, performing freestyle raps around Tokyo's Shibuya Station and earning a reputation as a skilled rhyme-slinger. He honed his voice further on Japan's first hip-hop radio station WREP and recorded his first single, "Metafiction," in 2018. His first EP, Core of The, arrived the following year, with his debut album WCMTW appearing in April 2020 and the follow-up, A Great Fool, landing in 2021. He teamed up with SKY-HI for the silky AutoTuned bop "Sober Rock" and a flurry of singles emerged in 2022, including "No Pressure"—the title track of his third album also released in 2022—and "New Chapter." 2023 saw the release of a bold new five-track EP, iCon.
