Shownu

Along with his group Monsta X, Shownu – born Son Hyun-woo in Seoul on June 18, 1992 – is signed to K-pop giant Starship Entertainment; the tastemaking label founded by Kim Shi-dae in 2008 that's responsible for championing some of the genre’s biggest names. The lead singer and dancer of colossal seven-piece Monsta X, who marked its arrival in 2015 with the Trespass EP and has seven studio albums to their name, Hyun-woo has proved he can go the distance alone. A versatile talent, he has completed a number of appearances on reality TV and variety shows in South Korea, including trailblazing beauty show Lipstick Prince, and in 2018 teamed up with UK indie-pop band PREP for their track “Don't Look Back”. Hyun-woo is a skilled dancer and choreographer and created the choreography for 2019 Monsta X track “Mirror” – featured on the group’s seventh album, Follow: Find You, on which he is also listed as a writer. Hyun-woo also made writing and composer contributions to Monsta X’s 2020 album All About Luv and that same year contributed to two soundtrack contributions, “Have a Good Night” for webtoon She’s My Type and “I’ll Be There” for South Korean TV drama, Tale of the Nine Tailed.
