The Royal Foundry

The Royal Foundry is a gospel-influenced alternative pop band from Edmonton, Alberta. The Canadian group was co-founded in 2013 by newlyweds Jared Salte and Bethany Schumacher, two longtime musicians who'd been raised in Christian households. They initially performed together as a folk duo, as heard on The Royal Foundry's independent debut album, Wherever We Go. Released in 2014, Wherever We Go helped the band earn two awards at GMA Canada's annual Covenant Awards in 2014, with The Royal Foundry winning "New Artist of the Year" as well as "Folk/Roots Song of the Year." Two years later, the group unveiled its new sound with the radio single "Running Away," which peaked at number 21 on Canada's Alternative Rock Radio chart in March 2016. A follow-up single, "Dreamers," reached number 32 on the same chart later that year. Both songs appeared on the group's second release, Lost in Your Head, in 2017. Featuring a mix of alternative rock and synth pop influences, Lost In Your Head earned the band additional awards, including the John Lennon Songwriting Contest Grand Prize and the Canadian Songwriting Competition Grand Prize. After two independent releases, The Royal Foundry signed up MapleMusic Recordings and released a third album, Wake Up Wake Up, in 2019. The singles "Hopefully" and "Okay?" were both Top 40 hots in the Alternative Rock Radio chart in Canada, with "Okay?" also reaching number 31 on country's Top 100 Rock Songs chart. During the subsequent years, The Royal Foundry reached number 27 on Top 100 Rock Songs with 2021's "Listen To The Beat," number 30 with 2022's "Little High Little Low," and number 34 with 2024's "I Give Up."
