Zoe Wees

Born on May 13, 2002, in Hamburg, Germany, Zoe Wees is a pop singer and songwriter best known for her 2020 debut single “Control,” which was a huge success in Europe. As a young girl, she was passionate about music and was inspired by artists such as Miley Cyrus and Jessie J. Raised by her mother, she was diagnosed with benign Rolandic epilepsy (BRE), which caused her to have feelings of exclusion and helplessness. However, by the time she was in her teens, she was already writing songs and studying with a music teacher who recognized her potential. In 2017, Zoe Wees participated in the fifth season of televised talent show The Voice Kids. Even though she was eliminated in the third phase of the show, she persevered and continued to follow her musical dream. Signing with Valeria Music / Capitol Records, she issued her debut single “Control.” The song, which dealt with her battle against BRE, was a success and charted in the Top 30 in Austria (Number 28), Belgium (Number 6), France (Number 22), and Switzerland (Number 11). Thanks to the success of the single, Zoe Wees won ‘newcomer’ awards from the Bravo Otto Awards, the New Music Awards, and the New Faces Awards. Her first release of 2021 was the single “Girls Like Us,” which was also a hit in several countries. Her next single, “Hold Me Like You Used To” was not as successful, although it was included – alongside her previous two singles – on the Golden Wings EP, which charted in Germany and Switzerland. In 2022, Zoe Wees released the singles “That’s How It Goes” (featuring 6lack) and “Lonely,” as well as “Do It Better,” which was a collaboration with Felix Jaehn.
