Vivek-Mervin

The versatile Indian music duo of Vivek Siva and Mervin Solomon are a cutting-edge force of nature in the Tamil film industry. With Chennai-born Vivek Siva boasting a classical background (also having performed with various bands at school and college) and Mervin Solomon – also hailing from Chennai – having cut his teeth as a music producer in the classical and gospel realm, the pair deftly merge traditional Carnatic influences with Western sounds. Along with composer and singer Anirudh Ravichander, Vivek Siva and Mervin Solomon made up the Indian fusion band Zinx, who formed in 2007. The pair stepped out as music directors with hit 2014 Indian Tamil comedy-thriller Vadacurry, crafting the songs and the background score which spawned the chart-topping "Nenjukulla Nee." Two years later they bagged another key project, working on 2016 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film Pugazh. Directed by Maran, the film's soundtrack yielded another hit song for Vivek-Mervin in "Neeye," which featured Hindi singer Arijit Singh in his first Tamil song. After trying their hand at supernatural comedy thrillers for 2017 Indian Tamil-language film Dora, the pair later moved onto action-comedy for 2018 Tamil-language film Gulaebaghavali. The duo have since created music for an array of commissioned films, including 2021 Tamil language action drama film Sulthan, while also working on independent projects including 2020's "Gaandu Kannamma" and 2021's "Tamil Ratna."
