Zhao Lei

Folk singer, songwriter, and musician Zhao Lei was born in Beijing, China on July 20, 1986. Learning to play guitar while in high school, he began his journey as a singer-songwriter in 2003 when he began performing acoustic shows in local clubs. Writing from a personal perspective, his songs began to attract fans and earned the respect of many local musicians. In 2009, he toured China and set up his own recording studio, Anti Beat. The following year, he performed at the Strawberry Music Festival and the Beijing Fangshan Changyang Music Festival. In 2011, he released his debut album, Zhao Xiaolei, which featured the single “The Southern Girl.” He became a success and toured China several times before releasing his second album, Jim’s Restaurant, in 2014. Zhao Lei released his next album, Unable to Grow Up, in 2017, the same year he became a contestant on the fifth season of I Am a Singer (entitled Singer 2017). In 2022, he returned to the charts with the release of his fourth album Shuqian Street Boys.
